Math Tips

Here's a math trick for the nine times tables, if you don't already know it. Say you have the question 9 x 3. With all fingers on both hands up, count 3 fingers from the left and put down the 3rd finger (it would be the left hand middle finger) Now you have 2 fingers up on the left side and 7 fingers up after the split so the answer is 27.

Try another one - 9 x 6 , from the left count over to 6 fingers and put it down (it would be the right hand thumb) now you have 5 fingers on the left hand up and 4 fingers after the split, so the answer is 54.

If it doesn't quite make sense ask me or one of my girls and they can show you. Hope that helps someone!!

  1. Hi I sent your trick to my granddughter Jessie and she sent this one back.

I use a different stratagy for nine times tables. Say you have 9x7 you subtract 1 from the 7 and you get 6. Then you think ok what + 6 = 9? 3 you put six and three together and get 63 theres your answer!
    simple!
