Blockbuster - save 70% off all movies. I went today and there wasn't much for kids but lots of adults. Think stocking stuffers, birthday prezzies, etc. At these prices it's cheaper to buy than rent.
As usual there are no rocking deals on produce.

Nutrition tip of the week: take a look at your cart - does it match Canada's Food Guide? Is it mostly vegetables, fruits and whole grains with smaller amounts of milk products and meat? Or is it full of processed grain products that don't really count and a token bunch of bananas?

Grocery tip of the week: Turkeys: Grade A - really pretty bird, 'well-shaped, meaty with even fat covering' Utility - 'minor skin tears or one or more parts missing (ie. wing tip)'.  So, if your guests aren't going to see the bird and there is a big difference in price, buy the Utility grade or Butch as we affectionately call her (please google Dave Bakes a Turkey from Vinyl Cafe to understand this reference).

Happy Shopping. Let me know if you have any shopping or nutrition questions for JoAnn or myself. Otherwise, I'll keep inserting totally random facts.

  1. Thanks Liesel. I think you hit all the things I "would" have if thinking it could have made it so. You are great.
And yes, I buy nothing but utility grade too. After all who cares if your bird is missing a minor part or skinned his knee? As long as the legs and thighs are there for the dark meat and there's plenty of breast meat for turkey buns - that's all that counts.

  2. /Regarding the Lancia pasta - 90g.$1.47. No it's not a good price. I'd only pay $1.00 for that size.
    Sorry Liesel.
