Not much for grocery deals this week. We didn't get our superstore flyer.
It's 10/15% Tuesday at Sobey's, Save-On and Safeway this week.
No Frills has some okay deals but not sure if it's worth driving out there.
Mark's (formerly Marks Work Wearhouse) has it's Ladies Night this Thursday (May 5th, Cinco de Mayo!) from 5-11 (check your flyer). Anywho, it's never stated in the flyer but you get 20% off your purchase in addition to the sale prices. Good time to stock up on wrinkle free shirts or Carhardtt's for hubby or cute stuff for you.
Went to Costco yesterday.
Asian coleslaw mix for $4.99 a bag. I love that stuff.
2lb strawberries for $2.98
13lb box of oranges for ~11.50 (not great, but if you eat alot of oranges).
I have also discovered a 6-grain pancake mix that I might love more than the Coyote Creek brand. And it's made in Utah.
Happy Shopping

Fabric
I want to clear my craft room out and still have 3-4 bins of fabric that I won't use. If you want to check it out, call me or come over sometime in the next week. Whatever is left by next Tuesday will go to another home.

Recipe for Chocolate Chip and Chickpeas cookies
First thing - PLEASE do not tell my children, or yours what the chickpeas are, as far as my kids know, they are nuts. :) Yes- my kids do not like their veggies.
1 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup trans-fat-free soft tub margarine spread
2 large egg whites
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1 (15 ounce) can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
2 cups (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
3/4 cup chopped walntus(optional)
3/4 cup raisins(optional)
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
I have never added the walnuts or raisins, I find it's a very packed cookie already and I even use less chocolate chips.
1. Preheat oven to 350F. Coat baking sheet with cooking spray.
2. In a large mixing bowl, beath the sugar and margarine until smooth, add egg whites and vanilla, then chickpeas and chocolate chips. Add the flour, oats, baking soda, and salt, and mix on low speed until a thick dough forms.
3. Drop the dough by tabelspoons onto baking sheet, spacing cookies about 2 inches apart. Press gently with a fork to flatten. Bake until cookies are golden and just set, 11 to 13 minutes. Do not overbake. Transfer to a rack to cool.
I got the recipe from Jessica Seinfelds book "Deceptively Delicious" which I highly recommend. I've made many many things out of there and smile every time my kids eat:)We've had chocolate cake with beets, oatmeal cookies with banana and zucchini, chocolate fondue with avocado and carrot and many more. You can borrow my cookbook if you'd like to. I'll try to remember and bring it to playgroup for anyone to take a look at.
Enjoy!! Luella

JoAnn's Grocery Picks
Co-op
cheese $7.99 for 900g block. So if you missed getting it at Sobey's last week, you now have another chance.
sugar 4kg bag (smaller bag) 3/$9.99 That works out to $8.32 if you were to buy the big bag. Not too bad.
boneless pork loin- fresh $1.99/lb or $4.37/kg
Superstore You can get a free turkey this week if your purchase is over $250. But if you are in the same boat as me, you don't have room for it in your freezer and it's too warm to sit in the garage now.
asparagus $1.28/lb wow!! that's even better than a month ago at $1.49
lettuce $.76/head
oranges $2.28 for a 5 lb bag ($.45/lb)
NN salad dressing $2.48 for the big 950mL bottle
Canadian Tire
Charmin toilet paper - if you didn't get it a couple of weeks ago, this is even better. $5.97 for 16 double rolls. That's a mere $.37/roll.
Didn't see anything exciting at Sobeys or Save-on and I didn't find Safeway. If anyone else notices anything from there, by all means let us know.
Here's my shameless plug for the BYU Idaho band concert. Friday April 15 (that's next Friday) 7 pm at the Harvest House, Westerner Park. LTCHS Jazz band opens for BYU, so come out and support local and international talent for a mere pittance of $5.00.
