Lovin the sales.

JoAnn's Grocery Picks for the Week

Women's used clothing.
Does anyone know of any used clothing for women besides Twice N Nice? I have a friend who is looking for a dress for a wedding and wants to find something nice but modest.
Let me know.

Clothing Sales

As per Kara's comment, Once Upon a Child is having a sale on 'selected clothing and toys' (I think it may just be clearance). The later in the day you shop, the better the discount, up to 70% off after 3pm.
Plato's clothing is just like Once Upon a Child but for teenagers/young adults and it just opened in the old Glory Lighting store in the same strip mall as OUAC. Might be worth checking out if you're of that age or have kids that age.
Mark's is having their Father's day event this Thursday evening. I'm assuming it will be 20% off everything, including sale items, but call to confirm. They also have a $10 off if you spend $50 which you can use with the discount. Byron got a pair of shoes at the last sale reg $100 for about $70 with both discounts.

JoAnn's Grocery Picks for the Week

It looks like Sobeys is the store of choice for this week. It's 15% Tuesday and with the discount, prices look pretty good.
Sobeys - Sale price followed by the additional 15% discounted price
Cherries (not that great, but with discount . . . well I'm a cherry fanatic, so anything that resembles a sale and I'm hooked) $2.49/lb $2.12/lb
Asparagus $1.99/lb $1.69/lb
head lettuce $.99 ea $.84 ea
Celery $1.29 ea $1.09 ea
Cantaloupe $1.49 ea $1.27 ea
Romaine hearts (if you like these better than the whole romaine head)
$2.49/pack of 3 $2.12 That's $.70/head
Mushrooms 200g pkg $1.99 ea $1.69 ea
bottled water $1.49/case of 12 $1.27/case
Note that this is the 12-bottle case, not the 24. The 24-case is $3.99. Hmmm. Do they think we are that easily fooled??!!!
Campbell's soup 12 cans/case $5.99 $5.09 That's $.42/can
Hams and Hots/doz $1.99 $1.69/doz
Pork ribs, breast bone removed $1.99/lb or $4.39/Kg $1.69/lb or $3.74/Kg
Chicken thighs $1.99/lb or $4.39/kg $1.69/lb or $3.74/kg
Whole frying chicken same price as the thighs above. Anyone taken the time to calculate how much weight is skin and bones in a fryer vs buying thighs or breast? I'd like to know which is more economical when the prices are the same.
Compliments smokies 1Kg pkg $6.99 $5.94
Fresh instore pizza starts at $6.99 starts at $5.94 Plus if you buy 2 pizzas,
you will receive 100 Club Sobeys points.
Kraft salad dressings 475 mL $1.99 $1.69 OR
Compliments salad dressings 475mL $1.89 $1.59
Frozen veggies 1 Kg bag $2.49 $2.12 Great if they carry petite peas
or peaches and cream corn (both my top picks)
FREE 4L jug of milk with purchase ofany 3 Kelloggs Cereal. so here are some decent prices on Kelloggs cereal.
Family pack 500g - 1.35Kg $4.99 $4.24
Corn Flakes 210 - 750g $2.99 $2.55

NoFrills
Frozen boneless. skinless chicken breast $2.00/lb $4.41/kg That works out to less than $18.00 for a 4kg box that is normally sold. But I think the ones at NoFrills are in the 2kg bag. So that would be under $9.00/bag. Wow!
The rest of the prices are either the same or higher than the specials at Sobeys, especially if you shop on Tuesday. But if you miss Tuesday, then check out the prices for NoFrills and you may want to head out there.

Co-op Besides whatever they feature for $1.49Day, here is what's in the flyer
strawberries 4lb pkg $5.99. That's cheaper than frozen!!!
Purex toilet paper 12 double rolls $4.98 with coupon. But check out Canadian Tire, they have 24 double rolls for $8.98. Better, but if you like Royale better (it is softer in my opinion) Canadian Tire's is $4.99 for 24 single of 12 double rolls.
Speaking of Canadian Tire, Fleecy dryer sheets are $3.99 for 80 sheet box
Astro yogurt 650g tub 4/$5.00 That's $1.25/tub
Jello instant or cooked pudding $4/3.96($.99 each) Good to stock up since the regular price is usually around $1.39 or higher.

Superstore $25 gift card with $250 purchase. Remember that they will match prices, except 15% discounts.
red seedless grapes $1.38/lb
bagged iceberg or coleslaw bog 3 lb bag $2.48!!
NN smokies 1kg pkg $4.48 (regular $5.99) My big kids like the Mexican, but they're far too hot for me. I like the Polish.
Ok. Here's my confession. Last week, I bought sugar snap peas (for the first time in my life) at Sobey's at their Bogo event. They were the little 227g bags. Regular $3.79, so Bogo puts them at $1.90. I discovered it's my new indulgence. Better than chocolate by far. Sorry if I have offended you choc-aholics out there:) Anyway, to my surprise, the big bag is on sale at Superstore for $5.98 907g bag. That would mean that my little bags last week would be $1.50. Guess what I'm buying at Supertore this week. I've bought the other peas before, but the sugar snap are to die for!!
Back to business:
Skim milk powder 2.5kg bag (makes 25L milk) $19.98. That's nearly $5.00 of the regular price. Great for food storage. I use it in my bread recipe
canned pineapple $.80 each
canned tuna 6cans/$4.48 That's nearly $.75/can, but if you are running low and can't wait till it's closer to $.50/can, then go for it.
NN mac and cheese $.48 each
NN sour cream $2.98
NN shredded cheese 1kg bag $10.98 I realize that this is a bit more than buying in the brick, but I like the nacho-spiced variety.
NN marshmallows big 1kg bag $3.98 (that's $1.00 off regular)

3 things I'm not sure of - avocadoes $2.75/bag of 5
fresh pineapple 2/$4.00
mangoes 4kg case for $5.88
